Hirst Conservation are delighted to announce we have been selected to be part of the team working for HH Smith, with Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council on the Phase II Restoration works on this magnificent building.

Designed by William Crossland and completed in 1871 the building celebrated its 150^th anniversary in 2021 and is undergoing major renovation works following a successful bid to The National Heritage Lottery Fund. It is due to reopen in 2023

We will shortly be commencing work which includes stone cleaning to the Great Hall Stairs and cleaning of the Great Hall ceiling panels.

Hirst are privileged to have previously undertaken a number of works at the building and are overjoyed to be part of the Phase II team. We look forward to bringing you more updates as works progress.
