Wall Paintings at St Michael’s & All Angels Church, Skelbrooke

In the Autumn of 2016 Hirst Conservation were appointed to undertake a survey of the wall paintings within the Chantry Chapel at the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Skelbrooke, South Yorkshire. A comparative survey was undertaken on March 2021 to determine if any subsequent deterioration, prior to a planned programme of repair to the exterior of the chapel, had occurred. Read More

Wall Painting Stabilisation at All Saints Church, Thelwall

Conservation and repair work was much needed for this grand 19th century wall painting that had a history of water ingress and inappropriate restoration. The painting sits above the chancel arch in 6the Grade II listed All Saints Church, Thelwall. The work followed two condition assessments and technical analysis and was undertaken in stages to allow complete carbonation of lime plaster repairs before any recreation of painted decoration could safely take place.
